While doing more research about facial expressions I came across Wakfu (read more about it on the Research page). Before creating an illustration about the same main character I feel I have to have a character finished as reference. My biggest inspiration for animation and facial expressions is Kihyun Ryu who worked on the animations and character expressions of The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The expressions he draws are so exaggerated and so funny!
Below you'll find a video of Korra and her team before the tournament. I really love simple animations like these!

Arrietty has also been a great inspiration for me. A very interesting and sad film. What I love about this film is the perspective of the little people and how they think there's a whole colony besides their family of three, while in fact, there's probably only one other of their kind left. This film was made after The Borrowers (Bruikleners).
I also watched a live stream lesson from Paintable promising me I'd learn to paint great illustrations after their video. It turned out to be more like a promo video for an overpriced course instead. Too bad, I was very excited for this before. What I miss right now is a teacher who can tell me about making illustrations but so far no luck!
